Fugue State is a meditative painting, within the flowing movement of the painting are a series of half formed things - shapes drawn out of the darkness.

This painting captures the artists questions about the validity of memory, in particular the idea that the deeper we look inside the less clear our sense of external identity becomes.

The artist created the painting in layers, each new layer hides parts of the one beneath, responding to it but altering it.

If you look at the detail photos you can still see traces of the lower layers and blurred sections as the bleed into one another. This intentional brushwork give the painting a mystery.

Fugue States is a powerful statement painting.
